Stealing this 2020 note idea from a good friend of mine — writing to myself this year for 2024
Dearest Danielle 2024,
You have had a whirlwind for a year in 2019. You celebrated wins and endured some losses. For starters, you went on your first business trip abroad and alone. This week-long trip from Nov. 23-29, 2019 unexpectedly sparked the journey to a good waiting game. Today, Feb. 29, 2020, you and your husband officially signed a deal that would affect the rest of your lives and the lives of Dandan-Bulanadis after you.
There will be birthing pains but I assure you, all those will be worth it. I hope that by the next leap year, you are already where you desired to be and are indeed reaping the benefits of the challenges that lay ahead of Jedane 2020. I wholeheartedly pray and hope that this will come true for you and your husband, and even better, for your siblings too.
When the going gets tough, remember why you embarked on this in the first place. Remember how you desperately wanted this life for yourself and your future family. Please remember that nothing comes out of nothing, but rare and priceless gems are made of extreme elements over time. The diamond you are hopefully holding now is just the same — crafted by tons of paperworks, life savings, and the pain of waiting.
Please never falter to believe that everything will fall into their perfect little spots. That each piece of the puzzle has a purpose, including the crooked ones. They fill in the gaps to keep the entirety intact.
Never forget to tell your loved ones you’re thinking of them. You are not the person who randomly says ‘I love you’ to your mom, aunt and siblings and you can’t force that. They know you love them but still ensure that you let them feel it every once in a while. Invite them over, let them enjoy what you hold dear now.
Danielle 2019 battled anxiety and Danielle 2020 is rising above it. Danielle 2024 has hopefully graduated with flying colors. Anxiety is not a special tag on people. It exists so commonly throughout the globe. It is solvable. It is not the end of the world. You can fight it with TLC. Take meds if you need to. But you know ultimately that you will continue to win. The next time your heart skips a beat, it will be because of joy.
Finally and never the least, Danielle 2019 has been a steady rock for Jeffrey 2019. Jedane 2020 is doing great so far. Jedane 2024, keep your love like it’s still 2016. Times like 2018-2019 only prove you are stronger than you think. Jedane 2024, feel free to laugh about your 2020 struggles because they were nothing compared to what you have now. Keep on randomly kissing each other in the escalator and singing like divas in your car.
